Amd quake champions pack1/31/2024 ![]() ![]() Visually you may not notice that many differences, certain models, like the weapons in game you'll notice are very low res when equipped on a model, and the settings will reduce the amount of rendering that occurs beyond the physical map. Usually I spin around in circles and try to cover as much of the map on foot during warm-up as possible to get everything loaded into memory. I can tell by game speed that everything is loaded into memory between 5 seconds and sometimes 1 minute depending on the map, and the player models. Things run much smoother, but the first few seconds after map load it may still be caching. One last note, these settings will force your machine to load your entire shader cache into memory. Also improved game play in a noticeable way. Oh yeah, for my system and display turning my brightness up in game which is a value of 1 in the video options for me. In my testing experience game play degrades below 40, aiming is slow, micro stutters happen, and the feeling of being slightly behind your opponents actions is felt. My frames generally stay between 52 and 62fps, with an occasional drop to 45ish. Projectiles fly very smooth and at game intended speeds which helps dramatically with dodging and staying up to speed with the match. My game runs very smooth and very fast, aiming is quick, smooth, and on target. I capped my frame rate at 62 which I highly suggest for older machines. Sorry, I just don't remember at the moment.Īnyway, these settings made a world of difference for me. So I wouldn't copy my setting on that line, as I set it to something else that I don't remember, you'll probably have to do some digging online to better understand it's functions. Either way, it did make a difference but the string is something the card adjusted it to to be more inline with the current gen card I believe. I didn't set it to that long string, I don't remember what I set it to, might have been x2700 or x3100 or x3200. Some settings for older cards you'll see listed as red items in Radeon Mod, if you have a newer card, because they have been replaced by something else, or removed entirely.Ī setting to note, TextureOpt, you'll see my setting is different than the default option. The settings at the link below for Radeon Mod will further adjust those settings in the registry and won't be reflected by in the in game video options.Īdditionally, depending on your Radeon you may have more options in Radeon Mod, or less it just depends on the cards available instructions. Everything is other than texture filtering is either low or off. I used the in game options to set everything to low except my texture filtering which is set to medium, and my resolution scale is set to 70%, in game gore is off. Some things to note, with the below setup. Because, well I don't game that much anymore and this system handles anything else quite well. Added an RX 580 8gb a few weeks ago to get more stable frame rates in QC without doing a major upgrade, I got a great deal on it. I run an old Q9450 on an ASUS P5E-Deluxe with 4gb of DDR2 (yup you read that right) and an SSD. To respond to cRazy eYes, you might be able to call my machine a smart watch by today's standards, lol. That gives a considerable boost to FPS.Sorry for the delay on this Radeon MOD snapshot, I've been away from the computer for quite awhile. There are different levels of a MUX switch implementation but commonly you choose to bypass the iGPU, restart the laptop and the dGPU then is hardwired into the display without the overhead. ![]() They're called Multiplexer, or a "MUX", switch. Some laptops have a user-controlled switch to route dGPU->iGPU->Display or dGPU->Display. But that would be the only way to bypass the iGPU. Some laptops have the display out port directly connected to the dGPU and they'd actually perform much better into an external monitor compared to on the laptops monitor. That causes all kinds of latencies and performance hits. But what also happens in most laptops, is that the dGPU (high performance card from Nvidia or AMD) would still have to go thru the iGPU into the display (for technical reasons). ![]() Since CPU's come with an iGPU built-in, they're still used for low performance tasks for how they're more efficient for lower demanding tasks.
